Ironhorse Forge has been in operation since 1975. We operate a full time Blacksmith Shop in scenic West Central Texas in the small hometown of Gatesville, Texas. I have been a Certified Journeyman/Master Farrier for over 51 years. My work has taken me to Canada, Mexico and all over the Continental United States. Angie has apprenticed Coppersmithing under my guidance for approximately 5 years and works under her trade name, Copper Hound Designs @ Ironhorse Forge.
I have been awarded the Top Speaker Award at the AERC Convention and have served as a Judge for several Farrier competitions. I have also worked with the staff at "Horse and Rider Magazine", Boulder Colorado, on various articles. In October 2010, I was honored to be one of fifty-one top Blacksmiths published in "American Blacksmiths: In Their Own Words" by Vince Nakovics. In 2014, I was honored to be one of one hundred-one Fly Fishing Guides and Business People featured in "Reflections of 100 Fly Fishers" by Michael Reingruber.
As of 2020, I am a retired college and trade school instructor in Blacksmithing and Metal Arts. I continue to consult with veterinarians and fellow working farriers specializing in orthopedics, lameness, and farrier consultation. I currently represent District 7 with the Texas Wildlife Department, as a Predator Control Specialist and operate Ironhorse Predator Control in Gatesville, Texas.
Ironhorse Forge creates unique works of art with hammer and fire. Traditional forging techniques are utilized during each project, large and small. Custom orders are always welcome.
